Bancroft Fire Chief Reminding you to be Safe if Setting off Fireworks This Weekend

With Canada Day long weekend coming up, everyone will be celebrating what makes our Nation great. However, Bancroft Fire Chief Pat Hoover is reminding you to be safe if setting off fireworks.

Hoover says that where you set the fireworks off is important. It could be the difference between having a good time with friends or starting a fire.

He adds that you need to make that after you shoot off the Fireworks, they could cause a fire. You need to make sure you douse them in water within a half hour after using them. He suggests filling up a bucket with water and leaving the Fireworks in the bucket over-night to soak.

Hoover adds that if you buy Fireworks from the local corner store there should be instructions on them telling you how to properly set them up.

Hoover says that if you cause any damage because you didn’t properly put out your Fireworks or properly set them up, you will be on the hook for any damages. He says though that while Fireworks are fun to set-off, it’s important to be respectful. Set them off at the appropriate time and properly.
