With Canadians being given the opportunity to fish without a license this week, the Bancroft Youth Fishing Derby could not have been held at a better time.
The Kids, Cops & Canadian Tire Fishing Days will be held at the Baptiste Lake Marina this Saturday, June 30th starting with registration at 8:30 AM. The event is free to attend with the first 75 kids that show-up getting a free t-shirt. There will also be a free BBQ lunch and award ceremony held inside the Marina around Noon.
The Bancroft Fish and Game Club President Paul Goggan says that it never gets old seeing kids, and even adults, get excited when a fish is caught.
Goggan says that he hopes to draw more people to the Sport of fishing with events like this running in the Summer and the Winter. He says it’s one of the best Sports to help people get out, together and bonding with each other, whether it’s with Family or with Friends.
