Vaping Regulations Being Put on Hold is Good for Local Business

The regulations that would have prevented people from vaping indoors have been put on hold by the new Ontario government.

The regulations were planned to come into effect on July 1st, but were put on hold so that they could be carefully reviewed. The Vapor Advocates of Ontario put out a statement saying that the regulations that are apart of the Smoke Free Ontario Act need to be better researched.

Darwain Baker owns the Back Woods Vape Club in Bancroft. He says that being able to come in to a Vape store and try the product is an important part of the business.

He adds that’s Vaping has been proven to be safer than smoking. He says that not allowing people to come in and try the product makes it tougher to sell and hurts his business.

Mike Hachey owns the Speakeasy Vape Parlour just down the street from Back Woods Vape. He says that more needs to be done to make sure this is a well-researched and well thought-out bill.

The Smoke Free Ontario Act was passed by the Liberal government in December of last year and was set to come into effect on July 1st. The PCs have said they “will work with the public, experts and businesses to re-examine the evidence related to vaping as a smoking cessation tool to ensure any changes are in the best interests of everyone and protect Ontarians’ health and safety.”
