North Hastings Children’s Services Want to Help Get Kids Ready for Kindergarten

It’s a day that is both looked forward to, and dreaded – the first day of school.

That’s why North Hastings Children’s Services want to help make sure kids in Bancroft are ready to start Kindergarten. Starting this Friday, and running every Friday until the end of August, there will be a “School  Readiness” program to help kids – and even their parents, get ready for school.

They’ve brought in a retired Kindergarten teacher to help run the kids through what they’ll be doing everyday at school so they know what to expect and give them a chance to meet each other and make friends ahead of their first day.

They will also offer tip sheets for parents that will give them ideas for snacks to pack that don’t involve common foods that their classmates might be allergic to like peanuts. They’ll also talk to the parents about dealing with sending their kids off to school and what they can do to help their kids – and themselves, deal with it.

The program runs from 10 AM to Noon at the Bancroft EarlyON Centre at 20 Hastings Heritage Way.
