Kramp Says Job Freeze Will Not Affect Hastings Highlands

Daryl Kramp doesn’t think the recent hiring freeze announced by the Ontario government will hurt workers in his riding.

The Hastings-Lennox & Addington M.P.P. says for employees in public service there will still be the opportunity to advance internally and between departments.  Kramp says this move by Premier Doug Ford is needed to control the deficit.

Two weeks before taking office Ford and the new PC government ordered the hiring freeze and ended all discretionary government spending until they can audit the Province’s book.

He adds that the public service hiring freeze won’t hurt employees here. Kramp says that even with the hiring freeze that was announced before Doug Ford became Premier, there will still be plenty of opportunity for public service workers to advance.

Kramp adds that he doesn’t see as a permanent situation. He thinks this is a clear message that the PCs need to “get this house in order” because he doesn’t think the debt is sustainable as this current rate. He said that this is the responsible thing to do.
