A total fire ban is in effect in Madawaska Valley.
That’s according to Fire Chief Corwin Quade who made the announcement Thursday morning.
Quade says that a total ban means you can’t have any fires, big or small, and not following these rules could result in fines. Quade says the danger of fires getting out of hand is always a concern when the ground is as dry as it is now.
So far, the Bancroft Fire Department has not issued a total fire ban but a daytime fire ban is in effect.
