Bossio: Canada Summer Jobs Initiative Important for our Community

M.P. Mike Bossio wants to give small businesses a boost.

The Canada Summer Jobs initiative was created to give funding to not-for-profit employers and small businesses with 50 or less employees to create summer job opportunities for students that will be going back to school next year.

M.P. for Hastings-Lennox and Addington Mike Bossio says this initiative is important to help our community grow.

Bossio believes there are many things that need to be improved to encourage kids to get jobs locally. Internet is a big one, he says. That’s why he says he’s helped invest $500 million into the Connect to Innovate program. The program aims to bring high-speed internet to 300 remote rural communities in Canada.

The end goal of this initiative is to give students an opportunity to learn and grow, but also give businesses the help that they might need.

Bossio adds that his aim is to help smaller businesses to give them a chance to find young, enthusiastic employees.

Visit the Government of Canada’s website here to find out more information on the initiative. Bossio says that if you’re a business that wants to apply for the Canada Summer Jobs initiative to contact his office here.
