Town Parts Ways With Hazel Lambe as Part of Reorganization

Hazel Lambe has been let go from her position of CAO and Clerk with the Town of Bancroft.

This is part of what the town calls a “reorganization process”.

In a statement, it was announced that Council reviewed different operating structures to “achieve a more interactive environment between staff, constituents and council”. Part of the process is the elimination of the traditional role of the CAO/Clerk function that Hazel Lambe filled.

Mayor Paul Jenkins told My Bancroft Now that council decided to make some changes to streamline things for staff.

Jenkins says this isn’t a negative against Lambe. He added she had a tough job being both the CAO and Clerk. He says Council hasn’t decided if they will replace her position. Deputy Clerk Lianne Sauter will move into the role of Acting Clerk.

Jenkins says if you are going to have progress you must have change. He wants to be able to have information flow freely between staff and give more responsibility to employees who didn’t have it before.

Jenkins says Bancroft needs to evolve.

Jenkins adds the changes will become more obvious as the process unfolds.
