Forest Fire in Algonquin Park Being Held

A forest fire in Algonquin Park is now being held by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

The MNRF says the fire was started the night of July 19th during a thunderstorm and was caused by lightning. The blaze is currently 34.2 hectares in size and it north of Barry’s Bay in the park.

Algonquin Park is currently under a fire restriction from the MNRF that covers much of Eastern Ontario, including Renfrew County. This ban includes no open fires or wood or charcoal barbeques.
