Pursuit in Bancroft ends with the help of a Spike Strip

A pursuit that went through Faraday Township ended in Bancroft thanks to a well-placed spike strip.

The car was reported stolen in Leamington, Ontario and was being chased for dangerous driving after the driver didn’t stop for Police. The pursuit happened around 4 AM on Sunday. Peterborough OPP started chasing the car on Highway 28 in Faraday Township before they eventually got to Bancroft.

The pursuit ended after a spike strip was laid out. The suspect tried to run, but was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.

Police searched the car and found other stolen items including a gun.

25 year old Anthony John Pompa was arrested and charged with five counts of possession of stolen property, flight while pursued by Police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The OPP say an investigation into the pursuit is on-going.
