The 24th Annual Michal Manson High School Exhibition was kicked off on Saturday at the newly renovated Art Gallery of Bancroft. Students from North Hastings High School in Bancroft, Madawaska Valley and District Secondary School in Barry’s Bay and Haliburton Highlands Secondary School in Haliburton participated in three areas: photography, painting, and drawing. Best of show for photography went to Katelyn Craig from North Hastings High School, for her photo “Red Tube.” For Painting, best of show went to Naomi Russell of Haliburton Highlands for her work “Heart of the Sea”; and best of show for drawing was awarded to Victoria Archibald of Haliburton Highlands for her piece “3 Trees.” Juror Allan O’Marra gave out a special “Juror’s Award” to Samantha Douglas, who is home schooled, for her painting of an owl. Samantha. There are many fine examples of student works on display at the Gallery and they will be there until January 31st.
