New Truck Ordered by Town Will be Useful Year-Round

The purchase of a new truck has been approved by Bancroft Council.

At yesterday’s Council meeting, the purchase of a new Front End Loader was approved. Public Works Manager Perry Kelly says the Town currently has two Front End Loaders. One is from 1990 and the other is from 2000. The one from 1990 is currently being scrapped for parts and will be replaced by the new one. He says that this update is part of the succession plan as stated in the Town’s asset management plan.

Kelly didn’t know what the Front End Loader will cost exactly, but says they usually are in the $200,000 range. He says the Town will be sourcing financing to be able to pay for it.

The two Front End Loaders the Town has now have many uses throughout the year, Kelly says. He specifically mentioned that they’re used for snow removal and other Winter maintenance purposes around Town. They also attach a sweeper on the front to sweep roads during the Spring.

The new Front End Loader will be delivered by September. Kelly added that this upgrade is more cost effective and efficient.
