AMO Conference Will be Important to try and get Bancroft’s Issues Across to PC Government

The Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be heading to a conference in Ottawa in hopes of having Bancroft’s issues heard.

The Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference is held annually. They serve as advocates for Municipalities in Ontario in dealing with Provincial Government.

Mayor Paul Jenkins will be travelling to the conference will Deputy Mayor Charles Mullett. Jenkins says that he thinks the PCs will be able to better help Bancroft than the Liberal Government did.

While he has yet to meet with anyone from the PC Government face-to-face, he believes that they will show more respect to rural Towns like Bancroft.

Jenkins says he will be talking about three main issues at the conference. The inadequate funding model for hub communities like Bancroft, the potential acquisition of the Public Works yard and the water and sewer issues that the Town faces.

Two names that should be familiar to residents of Bancroft are Todd Smith and Daryl Kramp. Smith, the former MP. for Bancroft’s old riding of Prince Edward-Hastings, is the current House Leader. Kramp, the current M.P. for Bancroft’s riding of Hastings-Lennox and Addington, is the Caucus Chair. Jenkins says that their familiarity of the Town will benefit the Town going forward.

Multiple meetings have already been set up, Jenkins says. The conference runs from August 19th to the 22nd in Ottawa.
