Ontario Parks Celebrating 125 Years With Time Capsule in Algonquin Park

To celebrate 125 years, Ontario Parks is burying a time capsule in its oldest Provincial park.

Algonquin Park’s Visitor Centre will be the home of the time capsule which will feature documents, letters, photographs, memorabilia and digital files from across all of the Province’s parks. The capsule, which will be in the floor of the entrance, will be opened in 25 years to celebrate Ontario Parks’ 150th anniversary.

Ontario Parks says the purpose of the capsule is to give people in the future a vision of what parks across the Province were like in 2018, as items will represent education, recreation, protection and Science.

Visitors are invited to attend the ceremony Wednesday at 1:00 PM to sign a guest book that will be included with the time capsule.
