Killaloe OPP is investigating a telephone fraud that cost the victim money. The victim was told that they would get between 4 and 5 million dollars if they would transfer some of their own money into an account. The fraudster claimed he was calling from British Columbia and even gave the victim a call back number. The victim sent transferred two sums of money to the scammer and got nothing in return. Police remind you that if the offer seems too good to be true it probably is not true. You are advised to contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center at 1-888-495-8501 and provide them your story if you get such a call and do not send any money unless you are absolutely sure who you are sending it to.
