The Concerned Citizens of Bancroft & Dungannon will be holding a meeting tonight in an attempt to find out more about the Pool of Dreams Fund.
The Pool of Dreams Fund was set-up in the 90’s to raise money to build a pool complex in Bancroft, but it was never built.
Wilma Brethour, who runs the Facebook page Concerned Citizens of Bancroft & Dungannon, will be holding a meeting tonight at Millennium Park because she wants to learn more about the fund. She has been in contact with the Pool of Dreams Fund committee members. She says one member told her there’s substantially more than $200,000 in the fund. She says that the money in the fund is possibly going to be donated to Cardiff Township in Highlands East.
Brethour says her contact told her that of the four members, two thought the money should remain in North Hastings while one said it didn’t matter. Brethour’s contact resigned from the committee over disagreements about where the money should go. She would not give his name, but said that he has given her his full support. The three remaining members of the committee have not returned Brethour’s calls.
Brethour says she has been told multiple stories about where the money is located, but has yet to get a straight answer.
She says the meeting tonight is to see if the community cares about what is done with the money. “We really need the community to rally behind us or we won’t be able to keep the Pool of Dreams money in North Hastings,” she says. She says her goal tonight are to strike a committee to move forward on finding a resolution to keep the money in North Hastings.
The meeting will be from 6 PM – 8 tonight at Millennium Park.
