North Hastings Pool of Dreams Negotiation Committee Asking for an Extension

The committee formed by the Concerned Citizens of Bancroft & Dungannon is asking for a proposal extension.

The North Hastings Recreation Center Fundraising Committee released a statement on Facebook on Councillor Tracy McGibbon’s page last week. In it, they gave North Hastings communities until September 13th to submit a proposal for what to do with the $192,000 in the Pool of Dreams Fund.

On August 30th, a committee was started by Wilma Breathour, who runs the Facebook page Concerned Citizens of Bancroft and Dungannon, along with Marsha Depotier, the Chair of the committee, and Catherine Leal, the Secretary. The ten person committee has been named the North Hastings pool of Dreams Negotiation Committee. They released a statement today saying that they have been working on a proposal, but with the deadline being a week away, they say they won’t have enough time to complete it. They go on to ask for a six month extension which, they say, will give them enough time to properly finish the proposal.

The statement says that an extra six months is needed so a proper plan can be prepared with the due diligence necessary. The statement goes on to say that they want to make sure the report will have the support it needs to demonstrate the plan being proposed can be successful.

The statement reads, “the funds in question have been sitting in an account for three decades, we are hoping 6 months is not a lot to ask in this circumstance.”
