Hastings Highlands is making voting easier this election season.

That’s because anyone that’s voting in this year’s election will be voting electronically. Pat Pilgrim, the CAO and Clerk for Hastings Highlands, says this allows people to vote wherever they are. All you need is to be connected to the internet. Pilgrim says that with the large seasonal population in the area, it’s important to give them an easier way to vote. She adds that everything is moving towards being done online whether it’s bills or now voting.

Pilgrim adds that with voting being done electronically, the tabulation will be done that way too. “You were counting ballots for a few hours after the ballot station closed, now it will be just be the press of a button,” she says.

Electronic voting will not be available in Bancroft for this election.

She added that she wants to get the message out about this change. She says that if you don’t have access to the internet, a computer will be available at your local polling station for you to use.
