Driver Charged With Stunt Driving After Police Chase

An Etobicoke man has been charged with stunt driving after leading Bancroft OPP on a chase through Faraday Township.

Earlier this month, Bancroft OPP were conducting radar enforcement on Highway 28 south in Faraday Township. A driver was clocked going more than 65 km/h over the 80 km/h speed limit. The officer put turned his siren on, but the vehicle didn’t stop. After a short chase, the suspect crashed his car in a single motor vehicle collision.

More Bancroft OPP officers, the OPP Emergency Response Team and OPP Canine Unit were called to the scene to find the suspect after he fled on foot. He was found a short time later and he was placed under arrest.

As a result, a 29 year old male from Etobicoke has been charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime over $5, 000
  • Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
  • Flight while pursued by peace officer
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Race a motor vehicle – stunt
  • Fail to remain
  • Five counts of Possession of an identity document

He had a bail hearing earlier this month.
