10th Anniversary of Newf Friends Brings in Big Fundraising Dollars

Dogs are man’s best friend, but after what was raised at NewfStock it’s safe to say man is dog’s best friend.

$25,000 was raised over the weekend during NewfStock. Sandra Nicholson, Founder New Friends Newfound Land Dog Rescue, said in a statement to My Bancroft Now it was a great way to celebrate Newf Friends’ 10th anniversary.

Nicholson said that she was happy to see the turn-out, despite the severe thunderstorm that hit the area over the weekend. She credits the hard-working volunteers who helped make the weekend great. “What a fabulous team, it’s an honour to be part of such a dedicated, kind-hearted, fun-loving group of people who give of themselves so freely,” she said.

There was an award ceremony held as well. Nicholson says in the statement that people from as far as Corner Brook, Newfoundland attended. They won for longest distance travelled. Nicholson adds that there were eight Newfoundland dogs over the age of 10, with the oldest being Cubcake who is 14. She won the award for oldest Newfoundland dog.
