Local services to get funding from the United Way

Seventy-two programs in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties will be getting funding from the United Way of Quinte this year.

United Way’s Board of Governors made the announcement at its meeting Wednesday, meaning more money for local branches of: the Community Development Council of Quinte, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Close to $500,000 will also go towards programs organized by the United Way, such as the Good Backpack program and DocFest.

Last year’s campaign fundraised over $2.09 million.
