The Bancroft OPP are warning residents to not fall for a new fraud.
Residents have been getting emails from people posing as members of municipalities running for election or re-election and asking for residents to help with campaign fundraising. The scammers have been sending emails asking for e-transfers or money orders to support certain candidates.
Bancroft OPP remind residents to do research before sending or receiving money online. They add that you should never give out personal information to someone with an unfamiliar email or over the phone.
