High Risk Arrest Made by Bancroft OPP Over Weekend

UPDATE, 10/24: Bancroft OPP have released what the two males have been charged with. The 17 year old male has been charged with:

  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of loaded, prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – Methamphetamine
  • Uttering Threats – cause death or bodily harm
  • Three counts of fail to comply with sentence

The 22 year old male has been charged with:

  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – Methamphetamine
  • Two counts of fail to comply with probation order

There was a high risk arrest made by the Bancroft OPP over the weekend.

It happened on Saturday when Bancroft OPP responded to a threat complaint on Woodview Lane.

Officers spoke with the complainant and were told that a weapon was used by the two males that were initially identified.

Officers worked on finding the two males and did find one at the intersection of Hastings Street North and Bridge Street West. Officers conducted a high risk arrest and located the prohibited weapon on the suspect.

As a result, a 17 year old male was arrested and charged with multiple offences. Another male, a 22 year old, was arrested and charged with multiple offences.

The accused were held for W.A.S.H. (Weekend And Statutory Holiday) court pending their bail hearings.

The investigation is on-going and Bancroft OPP will make information available as it comes in.
