Relative moves into home while owners vacation, charged with theft

A local resident faces a list of charges after Peterborough County OPP say they moved into the home of some family members who were on vacation.

The break and enter was reported at a home on Base Line Road Sunday afternoon.  The owners returned to find their house broken into.  Electronics, power tools, jewellery, fishing supplies, snowmobiles and firearms were also missing.  The OPP say they found a relative living there while the owners were away.

The accused was charged with: theft, public mischief by falsely reporting the theft and obstructing police by staging a break and enter.
