Old Tin Shed Running a Coat Drive For The First Time

This holiday season marks the first time The Old Tin Shed is running a winter coat drive.

“We like to do something to give back to the community this time of year,” says Janis Whitehead, Co-Owner of The Old Tin Shed. This year the idea was thought-up to do an adult winter coat drive. They added the twist that anyone that donates will get a 10-percent discount at the store until December 23rd.

Whitehead says that while there are many community groups that look after winter clothing for kids in need, there aren’t as many locally that look after adults. “There is a need in our community to help adults who may not be as affluent as others,” she says.

So far, four coats have been donated, which is less than what Whitehead expected. She says they will be accepting coats until December 20th. Whitehead says they’re looking for a new or gently used, clean adult winter coat. You can drop off any coat donations at The Old Tin Shed at 25 Sherbourne Street. “Help us help those in the community that need it a little bit more than others do,” Whitehead says.
