Hastings Street North from Maxwell Settlement Road to Fairway Boulevard was closed off yesterday after an accident. The crash happened at the intersection of Hastings Street North and York River Drive.

The Bancroft OPP say it started in the late morning yesterday when they responded to a domestic dispute involving two people at a business on Fairway Boulevard. As officers drove to the scene, the male involved was driving aggressively in the parking lot of the business and started to chase a female who was in another vehicle.

The male was overtaking multiple vehicles in an attempt to catch-up to the female and ended up losing control of his vehicle. He crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Hastings Street North and York River Drive.

Both drivers were injured and transported to a hospital. One driver has life-threatening injuries.

The crash caused a stretch of Hastings Street North to be closed for around seven hours yesterday. Multiple OPP department were on-scene, including frontline officers, detectives, a technical collision investigator and a reconstructionist. The Bancroft Fire Department was at the scene as well.

The investigation is on-going.
