Bancroft MNRF Recruiting Members For Local Citizens Committee

The Bancroft MNRF is looking for volunteers to fill two Local Citizens Committee forest management units.

In a press release, the MNRF defines the LCC as a volunteer committee that represents local interests and gives residents the opportunity for “enhanced public consultation.” They add that the LCC makes sure that the current forest management planning process is done in a way that keeps the best interests of all forest users in mind.

The MNRF is looking for members for two LCCs, including Bancroft-Minden. The new members would represent naturalist and waterfront property owner interests in forest management planning. While they say previous forestry knowledge is not required, the MNRF say you must meet the following requirements:

  • be able to commit to attending two to four meetings throughout the year and possibly more during the development of a new forest management plan
  • can commit to the membership for a minimum of one year
  • able to actively participate in meetings, provide timely input and where required, seek and present perspectives of the interest group they are representing

Orientation and training will be done beforehand.

The other LCC looking for volunteers is Mazinaw-Lanark.

If you’re interested in applying, the MNRF is asking you to contact the Bancroft MNRF at 613-332-3940 for more information. Applications will be accepted until January 31, 2019.
