With a few weeks left in the year, United Way Hastings & Prince Edward is getting closer to reaching their goal.
The $2 million goal that was set earlier this year was called ambitious, but Kathy Murphy, Executive Director of the United Way Hastings & Prince Edward, says that they have raised 61-percent of their goal with 20 days left until their deadline. That means they’ve raised $1,220,000 so far.
Murphy tells My Bancroft Now that she expects to be “very close” to the goal by the time the New Year hits. She says that there are multiple businesses that will be wrapping up their fundraising campaigns in the coming weeks which will add to the total already raised. “We are emphasizing that no donation is too small – we have a young girl who, for the second year, will be asking for birthday donations to the United Way Hastings Prince Edward instead of gifts,” Murphy said.
