OPP Want to Protect You And Your Snowmobile

Don’t let thieves ride away with your snowmobile.

That’s the message Constable Shawn Peever of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP wants to get across to people going out for a ride this winter. He says that you have to be careful when you ride and when you park. He recommends leaving your snowmobile, ATV or tractor indoors in a locked space or garage this winter.

He adds that if you leave your machine outside, make sure it is left in a well-lit area or perhaps under motion sensor lighting to scare away a would-be thief. He suggests using chains and padlocks to add an extra layer of protection to prevent it from being stolen from your property.

Peever says that while it’s obvious, it’s important to also make sure you never leave the key in the ignition. He adds to always keep your key with you.
