Region’s Snowmobile Trails Being Groomed For Opening

They’ll be opened soon, but stay off them for now.

That’s the message Stuart McDonald, President of the Maple Leaf Snow Skimmers, wants to get across as crews continue to work across the region to get the trails open. “We’ll get some open in the next few days,” added John Cummings, the President of the Paudash Trail Blazers.

McDonald says the opening of the trails will depend on the “conditions, the riders and mother nature.” He added that with the cold weather and snow that has come and is forecasted to come in the coming days will help with the trails. The sustainability of the temperatures will be important too, McDonald said.

McDonald went on to warn riders to continue to check the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs interactive trail guide to see what trails are open. He asks you to stay off the trails if they are in red. “We close trails for a reason,” McDonald says.

There are multiple trails in the Bancroft area that are currently open but only to limited availability.
