Prince Edward-Hastings MP Daryl Kramp is backing government support for survivors of thalidomide. The package includes up to $168 million in support nationally, in addition to $125,000 for every victim’s health costs. This follows significant birth defects suffered by children of pregnant women who were prescribed thalidomide to stop nausea in the 1960s. Back in 1991, the federal government also provided some financial support to survivors.
