Hunting License Fee Increase Cancelled by Province

There will be no increase to hunting license fees this year.

“We’re making it easier for Ontarians to enjoy the great outdoors by keeping hunting licences affordable,” said the Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry John Yakabuski. He adds in a press release that he expects this to put $1.6 million “back into the pockets of the hard-working people of Ontario.”

The $2 service attached to get a hunting license has also been removed. This follows Yakabuski doing the same with fishing licenses.

Hunting regulations have also been updated. This includes a new license summary that can be stored in your phone or printed at home. There are now paper tags that will replace the old game seals as well as enhanced hunter reporting.

With the hunting industry bringing in $431 million to Ontario, Yakabuski says it’s important to make life easier for hunters, not more difficult.
