$6,500 fine for Barry’s Bay moose hunter

A Barry’s Bay man has been fined $6,500 for hunting a moose out of season and discarding the remains outside.  Danny McClean pleaded guilty in Minden court March 5 to hunting without a licence, being in possession of an illegally-killed moose and letting it go bad.  The court says he killed the animal near Fishtail Lake Road north Wilberforce before leaving some of the meat to spoil and taking the rest to Barry’s Bay.  McClean has also been given a five year hunting ban.
