Nova Scotia M.P. Bernadette Jordan has been named the minister of rural economicĀ development.
“I could not be happier,” M.P. for Hastings-Lennox and Addington Mike Bossio said when reached for comment. Bossio said the creation of this new portfolio has been advocated for by rural caucus. He added that having a minister that will be “shining that rural lense upon all government programs and policy” is a good thing.
Jordan was elected at the M.P. for South Shore-St. Margarets in Novia Scotia in 2015 getting over 50-percent of the vote.
When asked what kind of person Jordan is, Bossio called her a “scrapper.” He went on to say that he has a good relationship with her and plans to sit down with her in the future for a discussion. “She and I speak the same language” he added.
“Given the rapid changes that are happening in our world today, we need to have a minister at the table that’s going to ensure rural municplaitiesĀ have a level playing field and to be able to compete head to head in these new areas,” Bossio said.
