Members of Bancroft council are back from the Rural Ontario Municipal Conference with high hopes that positive change is coming to the area. Mayor Bernice Jenkins opened Tuesday’s council meeting with a recap of the local issues that council brought forward at the ROMA conference. A request to speed up a review of the York River Water Management Plan as we approach flood season. The OPP billing reform. And government support for local projects. Jenkins says homeowners wouldn’t be over-billed for ten years before they found out about the markup, so municipalities shouldn’t be either.
She says the issue was brought to the attention of officials and that the group left the conference confident that headway will be made.
