Annual Walk For Alzheimer’s is “Like a Great Big Hug”

The Alzheimer Society hopes to add to the over $100,000 that’s been raised over the past eight years.

This Saturday the 9th annual Walk for Alzheimer’s will be held at the Hastings Centennial Manor. “What I love about this walk is on the day of the walk there’s a sense of comrodery that is there from people young and old,” said Sarah Krieger, Education and Support Coordinator with the Alzheimer Society of Hastings-Prince Edward.

“The funds we raise go to programming this in this area, like supporting Project Lifesaver,” she said. She added that during the walk Bancroft OPP officers will be there to demonstrate the program. Kreiger added that funding also goes to help with education sessions.

This will be the second year the walk will be held at the Manor. “We wanted to be inclusive of the residents who are in the manor,” Krieger said. “We also wanted people to realize that Hastings Centennial Manor is a lovely place,” she continued. “The staff there are fantastic and it’s not a place people should be afraid of,” she added on why they now hold the walk at the Manor.
