North Hastings Community Supports Alzheimer’s Society Once Again

$29,209 was raised during the 9th annual Walk for Alzheimer’s

“It’s an incredible day for us,” Alzheimer’s Society of Hastings and Prince Edward Education and Support Coordinator Sarah Krieger told My Bancroft Now after the event wrapped up.

Garnet Howard was this year’s top fundraiser. He brought in $1,965, with second place Lorna Yeomans not far behind with $1,950. Frank Hickey raised $1,600 and was the third highest fundraiser.

Krieger was emotional when she spoke about what this means to the Society. She said they hope to get more Project Lifesaver bracelets. Bancroft OPP Constable Philippe Regamey was at the walk and demonstrated how Project Lifesaver works and how it helps people suffering from Alzheimer’s. She added that the Music and Me program will be able to continue to grow as well.

“You’ve touched my heart,” Krieger said when asked what she wants to say to the residents of Bancroft and North Hastings. “Because of you we are able to make an impact and help those people (who suffer from Alzheimer’s/Dementia),” she continued.
