Centre Hastings OPP are reminding parents to talk about water safety with their children after a resident reported kids trying to break though the ice on a nearby creek. The OPP say the Madoc resident got worried when some kids were jumping off a bridge trying to break the ice. The person called police when they saw another group of kids later walking on the partly-frozen creek. The OPP say children can be curious about rushing water especially during spring, so parents should warn kids to avoid these areas to stay safe.
