Province Wants to Improve Endangered Species Act

After more than a decade, the provincial government wants to improve the endangered species act.

Gary Wheeler, Media Relations for the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, says that the act has not been reviewed since coming into force in 2008.

Wheeler says they’re inviting the public, businesses and indigenous communities to have their say on how Ontario can protect wildlife and species at risk which are living in the province.

He says the program has been criticized in the past for not doing enough to recover species at risk or address disease and climate threat they may have.
