Havelock’s Icefest Heating up Thanks to Help From a Maple Leafs Legend

Thanks to Wendel Clark, Havelock’s inaugural Fire & Ice Festival is heating up.

The festival is happening on February 9th at the Havelock Community Outdoor Rink at 39 George Street East. It all kicks off at noon.

David Sharpe, the President of HBMProud, says the big attraction this year is former Maple Leafs great Wendel Clark. 2,000 copies of his book “Wendel Clark, My Life in Hockey” was sent to Havelock. All you have to do to enter is buy one of the $20 books and you will be given a number from one to 2,000. If you win, you could win one of five prizes:

  • A one-on-one game with Wendel Clark in Havelock (transportation not included)
  • Two tickets to a Maple Leafs game next season with dinner and accommodation in Toronto (transportation not included)
  • Three Maple Leafs Jerseys signed by Wendel Clark
  • Five hockey sticks signed by Wendel Clark
  • Five hockey pucks signed by Wendel Clark

Sharpe says Clark also will be skating around the kids that attend the festival for a few years. “It’s hard to believe it’s all come together,” he said.

The event will also see skating on the outdoor rink all day, a night-time ice lantern walk, ice jugglers and carvers along with a firework show that will be set-up by the local fire department. Sharpe says multiple campfires will be set-up as well for people that want to keep warm or to roast marshmallows.
