If you’re a local business looking to hire student staff this summer, then a new government subsidy program could save you some money. More than 1,500 rural employers were part of the provincial government’s Rural Summer Jobs Service last year. The program reimburses rural companies for $2 per hour per worker. Youth just have to be between the ages of 15 and 30. Up to 560 hours per employee can be subsidized for work done between April 1 and Sept. 30. The deadline is April 17.
