Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Investigating Use of Counterfeit Money

That American bill you got could be fake.

The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP are investigating two incidents involving counterfeit $100 American bank notes.

The incidents happened on Sunday and Monday in Pembroke where the bills were used to pay for food deliveries.

The OPP would like to remind businesses and residents to take extra precautions when receiving cash payments. Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Constable Shawn Peever says that you should specifically watch out if the payment comes in the form of a $100 American banknote.

If you do suspect you’ve been dealt a counterfeit note, politely refuse the note, ask for another one and advise the person to check the note with the local police.
