The Bancroft OPP are once again reminding people to be cautious when selling items online after two local residents became victims in an overpayment scam. The OPP say the two separate incidents involved sellers posting items online. The buyers both sent a money order for more money than the items were worth and asked the sellers to wire the differences back to them. The money orders were fake. Tips for avoiding scams include knowing who you’re dealing with and never accepting a cheque or money order for more than the purchase price.
