Fatal Crash Causes Portion of Highway 28 Near Apsley to Shutdown

A head-on crash happened on Highway 28 north of Haultain Road around 4:15 on Wednesday.

Peterborough OPP and other emergency crews were called to assist with the two-vehicle crash. 69-year-old Carolyn Clement of Toronto was pronounced dead at the scene while a 35-year-old male from Peterborough has been charged with drive while prohibited and two counts of fail to comply with a recognizance. He was also sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He will appear in court later today for his bail hearing.

The highway was closed between Haultain Road and Aplsey while the scene while under investigation. That stretch of the highway has since been re-opened.

The investigation is on-going.
