OPP Reminding Drivers of Dangers of Spring Driving

Winter may be on its way out, but road conditions may not be getting any better.

The OPP is reminding people that the spring weather brings its own unique driving challenges. Melting and freezing snow along with rain and flooding are all things you will have to deal with while driving during the spring.

The OPP says wet roads can turn into ice rinks without notice, while deep puddles can hide potholes or cause hydroplaning which could lead to you losing control of your vehicle. They suggest you drive slowly and always be aware of the possibility of changing road conditions.

If you do end up blowing a tire, the OPP says you need to make sure your vehicle is pulled as far off the road as possible and that your four-way flashers are on. Whenever possible the police encourage drivers to call for help with a disabled vehicle, whether that’s a professional service or a friend.
