Ice Huts Need to be Removed by End of The Month, Says MNRF

As the spring melt kicks into high gear the Ministry of Natural resources has a message for winter anglers.

It is time to move ice huts and all related equipment off of area lakes.

This includes any garbage that may have built up over the winter.

The date for MNRF Zone 15 to remove ice huts is actually March 31st, but the rule of thumb is to abide by conditions. Lake ice is disappearing quickly so people should not delay in the removal of huts.

It is an offence under the Public Lands Act to leave your ice hut out after the ice breaks up, regardless of whether registration and removal dates apply.
