Herlihey Park Master Plan Finalized

The Wilberforce park is inching closer to shovel ready.

Last week, the Municipality of Highlands East and Northern Design revealed the master plan for Herlihey Park.

The seven-acre property, which was named after Beatrice and Harold Herlihey, didn’t see much change between the previous draft and the finalized version.

According to the plan, the design will attempt to preserve the history and the “elements and character that make this site truly unique.”

When the park is built, it is going to have a pavilion, as well as walking, biking and snowmobile trails. Another feature of the redesigned land is a multi-use picnic pavilion, a playground and several parking lots.

Because the park backs onto Dark Lake and the Irondale River, the design also has a pump-house dock, swim raft and river access on the eastern side of the park.

A link to the master plan can be found on the Highlands East website.
