Bancroft Resident Hired as Rockhounds’ General Manager

George Eastman is the chair of the North Hastings Arena commission, but can now say he’s the general manager of the Bancroft Rockhounds.

David Forde, senior advisor with hockey operations and recruiting with the team, tells My Bancroft Now the news in the wake of the team releasing their logo. Forde points to Eastman’s role with minor hockey in Bancroft and his past experience as the general manager of the Bancroft Hawks. “We think George will be a great resource in the community and connecting us to the community,” Forde says. He adds that he will be working closely with Eastman in the lead-up to the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League’s draft on May 12th.

Forde says they have already started interviewing for a head coach along with assistant coaches. He says he would love to give those spots to a local as well, but he is making sure other options are open for filling the roles.

The reaction to the team name and logo has been positive on Moose FM’s Facebook page. and Forde is happy to see that. “We want what they want,” he says of the community.

Forde notes that the logo was done by a designer who works with the Ontario Hockey League’s Brampton Battalion and Sudbury Wolves. He adds that jerseys are being worked on and will be available for purchase once they are done.
