The new bursary fund was approved by council last week and the library board on Wednesday.
The $100-per-student bursary will be available to graduates of North Hastings High School living in Hastings Highlands. Successful applicants will also have to be accepted into a college, university, or starting an apprenticeship. They will also have to be a resident of Hastings Highlands.
“The library board has a priority of encouraging the youth in our community,” explains the library’s CEO Rod Moffitt. “And this is a very practical way to encourage students in our community to better themselves and to continue on in their education.”
The successful applicants will be awarded a certificate at North Hastings High School’s graduation ceremony in June.
Moffitt says he will be dropping off forms at North Hastings High in the coming weeks.
