Tractor Trailer Driver Charged After Cannabis Found in Truck

A truck driver has been charged with driving with cannabis in reach.

OPP received a complaint about the tractor-trailer driver passing through Laurentian Hills the morning of May 26th. Police pulled the tractor-trailer over and assessed the situation.

The 39-year-old from Quebec has been charged under both the Highway Traffic Act and the Cannabis Control Act. He has been charged with careless driving and having care and control of a vehicle with cannabis readily available. The driver was taken off the road for 24 hours.

OPP reminds drivers of any commercial motor-vehicles that they cannot have any cannabis or alcohol in their system. The same goes for young and new drivers.
